No Hay Justicia

by Michelle on February 14, 2007

Since 1993, there have been almost 400 women who have been murdered and about 70 still missing from the boarder town of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. The terrible thing is, barely anyone has been held responsible for the terrible crimes. There are several theories about this, but no conclusions. Although there are many good laws in the country, there seems to be no follow-up in the case of these women. I write this today because there was a recent story by NPR about the rising death rates of women around Mexico City (D.F.).

About five years ago, I saw a DVD about the conditions for women in Juárez, and it is so very heartbreaking. I am challenged to continue to pray for Mexico. Social justice comes by faith. And faith is action.

“Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.” -Habakkuk, 7th century B.C.
