I grew up in the Bay Area. That means that when you’re in high school, any band or rapper or singer that is from this Area is the best, and you’ll defend them to all your east coast buddies. Well, at least that’s how it was in the 90′s.
So I’ll just say it – I saw MC Hammer in concert in Oakland – his home town.
[For more, click below.]Yes it was the early 90′s, and it was insane. I probably lost 10 pounds from dancing, and his dancers probably lost 50 pounds. I don’t think they ever stopped dancing. It was crazy!
So where is the Hammer nowdays? Well, I just found out he’s on Twitter – That came via Brent telling me & me discovering it online all around the same time last year. He’s got a site called dancejam.com a community of dance-jammers (so to speak) getting together uploading and voting on dances.
Hilarious!
oh my goodness… how funny. Girl, I got MC Hammer’s autograph on a 7-11 napkin that said, “Kelly, Ring ‘Em” =) because Danny (Carver) was talking to me on the payphone there on Tennessee St. and MC Hammer drove up to that 7-11…to use the phone!!!! LOL (didn’t have his brick cell phone, I guess.)
fun post.
love you,girl!!
Holy cow! What year was that? And what in the world ever happened to Danny?
That was probably 1988.
Fun memory!!
Remember the MC hammer pants we used to wear for our human videos? Funny he’s been on every one’s mind… we’ve been playing 2 Legit for Keilani for about a month now… she loves it and so did we the first few times of resurrecting it! Now we always tell her the ipod is broken! Her other favorite – ice ice baby… sigh!
Shame on you for playing her Vanilla Ice… Kidding. :0) I hear the Hammer is coming out with a new album soon. You’ll have to check it out!
