Videos, short films, etc.

Yes, with all the “spare” time we have (or not), we put together this awesomely silly video back in February. Our good friend Sean played the part perfectly:

It was part of a fund-raising event for a youth group that we’ve helped out with (for 10 the past 10 years!). Sort of a dinner-theater play (yet another) that I wrote. Believe it or not, we raised thousands of dollars. I was inspired to do this “commercial” because I totally HATE those Sham Wow commercials that they show on TV. Vince, the spokesperson for Sham Wow really gets under my skin. Funny, huh? So what do I do when things get on my nerves? I try to laugh. And that’s exactly what we did when making this. :0)

Changing gears…

The first Phoenix Film Festival I went to was way back in 1999, and I think it was their first. My husband (then boyfriend) was absolutely crying from laughing so hard because of the Rejected Cartoons series. I thought they were strange but a few chuckles did slip past my lips. There was a short about an invisible choir, seen only by the protagonist. The choir went around wherever he went, singing to him. That would be really strange if that happened to me. And we saw Chump Change, written, directed, and starred by one guy, Stephen Burrows. I totally don’t remember anything about the movie, but we did hang out with Burrows afterwards for a little bit. He was a cool guy. Wonder whatever happened to him?

I really haven’t kept in touch with the film festival circuit in quite a while. Brent and I went back to the Phoenix Film Festival a few years ago, but it wasn’t that exciting. Perhaps things have changed? There’s another festival starting up this weekend. It’s only 10 minutes from our house! We should go…. maybe.

Those are my random thoughts for the day! Have a wonderful evening.

  1. Really liked this! Good Job Sean. Or maybe it’s just my humor at 6:32 am. Not fully awake, not quite asleep.
No, really good job, thought it was really funny. Sean must have seen far too many ShamWow commercials.

Actually like your site and blogs throughout. Checked out your very first in 2006 even.

Keep up the good work. ; )
